Selection and development of pilot wheat fields based on specific criteria.

Processing of near real time data (satellite images, UAV), application of variable rate N fertilization, and harvesting of pilot fields.

Soil, plant tissue sampling and laboratory analyses

Evaluation of variable rate N fertilization in economic, agronomic and environmental terms for climate change mitigation.

WP1:

Dr. Christos Noulas, IIFC (ELGO-DIMITRA)

Specializing in soil science, plant nutrition, and soil fertility with an emphasis on nitrogen utilization efficiency (NUE) in wheat (Wheat cultivation, N-fertilization, N uptake assimilation) (PhD thesis). Participation in 23 research projects (competitive and commissioned) and 7 COST Coordinated Actions on plant nutrition and soil-plant relationships. He has 14 publications in peer-reviewed journals on N utilization in wheat, and N processes in soil/environmental protection.
WP2:

Alexandros Tsitouras, IIFC (ELGO-DIMITRA)

Special Operational Scientist, Geographer (PE) with participation in 21 competitive and commissioned research projects. Head of Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing Laboratory. Significant experience in managing and processing geospatial data. Regarding the dissemination of the results, one chapter in a book, 2 publications in international journals and 8 in proceedings of international conferences are indicated.
WP3:

Charalampos Miliotis (Agrotech S.A.)

Agronomist – Precision Agriculture Specialist. Head of Precision Agriculture department with statistical training in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing. Experience managing and processing geospatial data as well as foliage indices to apply variable fertilization rates. Knowledge of machines and accessories that can apply variable rates.
WP4:

Dr. Miltiadis Tziouvalekas IIFC (ELGO-DIMITRA)

Head of the Accredited laboratory for plant soil and water analysis of IBKF/ELGO. 28-year experience in laboratory analysis for the implementation of research projects.
WP5:

Dr. Eleftherios Evangelou, IIFC (ELGO-DIMITRA)

Dr. Agronomist/Soilologist with participation in 19 competitive and commissioned research projects. In particular significant experience in experimenting with variable nitrogen supply in Agriculture. Examples include participation in 3 competitive international projects (Horizon, Life, DG Environment) and 1 competitive national (AgroETAK) project, in 4 publications (3 in Precision Agriculture) in 1 chapter in a book and in 8 papers in international/national conferences that directly related to variable nitrogen supply.
